Taro Chips Processing Workflow:
The main stages of the taro chips production line include:Washing → Peeling → Slicing → Starch Rinsing → Frying → De-oiling → Seasoning → Nitrogen-flushed Packaging
The taro chips making machine can be flexibly configured to meet varying capacity requirements (small, medium, or large scale) and is suitable for food processing plants, snack food factories, and export-oriented enterprises.
1. Washing
The surface of the taro is covered with significant amounts of soil and fibrous impurities. The taro chips production line employs a combination of a brush washer and a high-pressure spray system; the dual action of mechanical brushing and water jetting effectively removes surface dirt and enhances the cleanliness of the raw material.
2. Efficient Peeling
After washing, the taro enters the peeling stage, typically using a taro peeling machine equipped with abrasive rollers. The equipment removes the outer skin evenly through high-speed friction while minimizing damage to the inner flesh, thereby improving raw material utilization.
3. Uniform Slicing
After peeling, the taro is cut into standardized slices using a slicing machine, with the thickness typically controlled at 1–1.5 mm.
4. Starch Rinsing
The sliced taro enters a cold-water rinsing system to remove loose surface starch. This step effectively prevents sticking during frying and reduces oil absorption, resulting in a crispier, less greasy finished product.
5. Frying
This is a crucial step in the taro chips production line. The taro chips enter the fryer for high-temperature frying, with the oil temperature maintained between 127°C and 160°C (260°F–320°F). This process achieves rapid dehydration, giving the chips a golden, crispy texture.
6. Centrifugal De-oiling
Fried products are processed in a centrifugal de-oiler, where high-speed rotation effectively removes excess surface oil.
7. Seasoning
After de-oiling, the taro chips enter a seasoning drum. A rotary powder-spraying system ensures the uniform application of salt, spices, or blended seasonings, enabling the production of various flavored products.
8.Nitrogen-Flushed Packaging
The packaging machine is the final piece of equipment in the taro chips making machines. After being automatically weighed, the taro chips enter the packaging system, where they are sealed in nitrogen-flushed packages. Nitrogen effectively prevents oxidation, moisture absorption, and breakage, ensuring the product retains its crispy texture during transport and storage.
Features of the Taro Chips Production Line:
1. Automated production: Continuous operation from washing to packaging significantly reduces manual intervention and enhances production efficiency and product consistency.2. Food-grade safety standards: The equipment is constructed from 304 stainless steel, complies with food processing hygiene standards, and is easy to clean and maintain.
3. Versatility with raw materials: In addition to taro, the production line is suitable for processing other root crops such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, and cassava, offering a wide range of applications.
